Botox – FAQs

Will Therapeutic Botox work for me?

If your symptoms are tension or TMD related then there is a good chance you will benefit from Botox therapeutic.

Is Therapeutic Botox covered by OHIP?

Unfortunately not at this time. However some dental insurance plans may cover a portion of the injection fee and some medical drug plans may contribute to the cost of the therapeutic Botox itself.

How much Botox will I need?

An exam will be required to determine the amount of therapeutic botox needed.  In order to achieve a therapeutic effect dosages will usually exceed that normally used for purely cosmetic effects.

Mild tension headaches can be treated only in the upper face but for symptoms involving the TMJ, they may require additional injections into the muscles of mastication and parafunction.

If I don’t have a drug plan can I still get Therapeutic Botox?

Yes you may purchase the Botox therapeutic from Nabeta Dentistry.

How do I get my drug plan to cover Therapeutic Botox?

You may need to see your physician to investigate alternative therapies before your drug plan will contribute to Botox therapy.  Your benefits may also ask your physician to fill out more information to be eligible for coverage.

What are the side effects of Therapeutic Botox?
